Found the issue with robots.txt there was a htaccess redirect on it

Joe

if it’s a file, it may also be a permissions issue

Joe

do you have a module that’s supposed to handle the robots.txt for you?

if so, does it simply handle the robots.txt route, or is it updating an actual, physical robots.txt file on the server?

pn

Its been a few days and changes are not being picked up on the browser

pn

The reason I am trying to flush though is that my robots.txt file wont update

pn

Thanks @Joe. I cant find any errors relating to the flush/build process but I ll keep looking

Joe

so next step would be to see what’s getting written to the log, and trying to resolve that issue (plus trying to get the permissions right so that you don’t have to leave the back door open just to get things to run 🙂)

Joe

but that also tells me that there’s probably some error condition occurring during the build and flush - otherwise it probably wouldnt be trying to write to the log

Joe

I agree with that. Personally (ubuntu), I end up making www-data the group of the log directory, and then chmod -R g+w the logs directory

pn

And flush only works when the log file permissions are set to 777 which is not ideal
