A mangled .htaccess would mean Apache can't read it and just instantly dies

r3v3rb

is there a default .htaccess for 3.7.4 on github?

Joe

right - but i’ve seen that manifest as a 4xx error, rather than a 500

a 500 leads me to believe it’s actually hitting PHP, and dying at that point

nightjarnz

@Joe mangled htaccess would be invalid configuration - a server error. 400 level requests are for client errors :)

Joe

ah. I’ve seen a mangled .htaccess trigger a 403 before. don’t think i’ve ever seen it cause a 500

nightjarnz

403 wouldn't be mangled, just mis-configured though :> That's the authorisation failure.

r3v3rb

come on guys, back on track no 403 here, just 500 - no errors being logged!

Joe

were you able to add that SS_Log call to your _config.php?

Joe

cuz unless we can get log output, I don’t think we’ll be able to solve this
